Though Fort Lauderdale is an unknown territory for me, as I’m more used to the south, it’s always refreshing to try something new. This year’s 4th I didn’t suspect that I would be “working” (cause I love what I do anyway!! lol) but I have decided to go check out the 4th of july pool party. Referred by DJ Nyce, I connected with the party’s promoter Joel Dalzon and got invited in. When I arrived I noticed that the first entrance was free, so I assumed the pool and the bar had no relations for the party’s cashier was sitting at the other side of the hall connecting to the entrance of the pool.
That little hick up permitted the party’s attendees to avoid paying the $10 if they didn’t wish to enter the pool. Not quite sure what the marketing plan was there. Next I proceeded to the pool area where I captured a few interesting moments, some that I could show, and some …well let’s just say the ladies really were having fun!!!
The positive point about the party for me was definitely the music, DJ Nikky Mix and DJ Manny Mix really threw it down (the proof is in the video) you can tell they enjoyed entertaining the crowd. Perhaps an added BBQ would have been perfect, but not quite sure if I left before the food got there, but past 6pm Fireworks are in order, not really food. I would say if you travel in a group, that would be the perfect party to relax under the Florida sun, play with your friends in the pool or even partake to a game of “casino”.
If you followed my tweet that day…well you all know what happened but then again, I’m not sure if the Haitian community is used to having bloggers within their midst…some get it and some don’t but soon enough they will catch up..gotta love my people!!
Here are my grades for the party:
- 5 for location….it would have been more profittable if tickets were paid at the first entrance, unless the results were intentional.
- 7 for environment, definitely a party if you walk in groups, unless you don’t want to be bothered on a chair by the pool.
- 10 for music, kudos for broadcasting the music on the radio and on live online TV.
Their Flyer says “First Annual…”, There is always room for improvement of course. Looking forward to what next year is going to look like.

I enjoy good music but it seems if one did not know anyone there it would not have been fun to attend
