Art for Rescue

Alex Altidor

I consider giving back a precious act, an act of selflessness that many can talk about but few can truly materialize. The International Rescue Committee stands behind their credo by being there when crisis arises. To put it in their words”The International Rescue Committee responds to the world’s worst humanitarian crises and helps people to survive and rebuild their lives. Founded in 1933 at the request of Albert Einstein, the IRC offers lifesaving care and life-changing assistance to refugees forced to flee from war or disaster.”

Though the number of their volunteers multiply, the aid of others is always welcome. On World Refugee Day, June 20th 2012, the IRC held a

great benefit with presentation of art and delightful hors d’oeuvres, with featured paintings by haitian artist Alex Altidor, Painter Floyd, Jewelry by Zoila Guevara, music by our very own J Perry and Jael Auguste, raffled prizes and many more.

I always applaud organizations that give back to their community let alone the world, thank to the International Rescue Committee, many more bodies will look forward to life with eyes of hope.
